Mood Swinger
Mood Swinger is a study on bipolar disorder that my friend Johannes did whilst studying at UDK. He says that the metaphoric installation represents the constant change of mood that the bipolar people are experiencing with their life-long disease. In the piece the red stands for mania and blue for depression.
Personally I think Johannes has found a perfect conceptual answer to a somewhat difficult brief. A perfect example of a piece of graphic design that manages to push the boundaries between art and design in a right way. This thought really brings the piece alive: Although the Bernoulli effect allows the balls to float airborne, the presence of two balls breaks the tension irregularly. Brilliant.
