Working title: From self-publishing to self-discovery
I have recently started the research for my dissertation work. For my topic I chose to investigate why designer’s are often driving their own self-initiated projects, more specifically I will be looking into the publishing side of this phenomena.
By publishing I don’t mean merely printed publications, but also digital environments such as blogs and podcasts. At the moment I’m on the hunt for relevant books around my subject area. It seems now that the information will need to be collected from bits and pieces. The first book I’ve read was named conveniently The Reader.
The next step will also be identifying suitable case studies. I also hope to include conversations and interviews with designers who are actively wanting to get their voice to be heard by pushing their own projects forward.
